Question
How do theologians distinguish between individual and general eschatology?
Answer
There are two terms theological terms for eschatology: individual eschatology and general eschatology. And individual eschatology is, it's the last things, the things of the second coming of Christ applied to the individual, to you or to me, so involved in that would be the resurrection of the body, appearance before the judgment seat of Christ, and the individual entering into the life of the new heaven and the new earth. General eschatology is the broad picture, the cosmic picture, so we have to talk about the transformation that results in the new heaven and the new earth and the fact that there is perfect righteousness in a whole new world.
